What exactly is Pearls of Africa?
"A love affair between continents, between black and white, between women who respect and inspire each other - women who try to do their best for each other."
PEARLS OF AFRICA is a project that is close to our hearts. We started it in 2012 as a family commitment (Ursula, Dieter, Maria, Steffi and Anna) in cooperation with the "Emmanuel Group" ("God with us"), a group of refugee women in Uganda. To be more precise, PEARLS OF AFRICA is a German-Uganda/African upcycling jewelery project or a jewelery brand with the mission of "helping people to help themselves". (Upcycling the African way :))
The fair brand PEARLS OF AFRICA, also Pearls of Africa, stands for lively, African and colorful pearl jewelery as well as home accessories made from recycled paper.

Cleverly threaded: jewelery from Africa under the radio tower
The "Pearls of Africa" label supports Ugandan women in selling their jewellery. The products will be available from Wednesday at the “Bazaar Berlin” trade fair.
The colorful pearls shine like precious stones. It's hard to believe that they are made from printing waste, advertising papers and old calendars. The Acholi women from the Kireka slum, a suburb of Kampala, use it to skillfully handcraft elegant necklaces, bracelets and earrings. "They earn money with the jewelry to provide for themselves and their families," says Anna Brosch.
